ASUS employs 130 designers in its offices in Taiwan, China, and Singapore. In 2009 alone, this international team helped ASUS products earn more than 3,000 industry awards. This success is just one dividend of a design culture devoted to a single, overriding purpose—the user experience.
The ASUS design story starts at the ASUS DESIGN headquarters, which is split into nine teams. Each is focused on a different facet of the production process, from market research and material development to mechanical design, industrial design, and packaging.
While most new products are based on ASUS roadmaps, great ideas regularly come out of ASUS DESIGN's annual brainstorming sessions, which each year focus on a different theme. The exploration of luxury in 2006 led to development of the high-end ASUS-Lamborghini gaming laptop and leather-covered S6 ultraportable, while the "green" focus in 2007 inspired the U6 Bamboo and original Eee PC laptops.
Design at ASUS is less a department or discipline than the expression of a fundamental company value. ASUS understands that in the right hands, design is a tool for capturing that elusive combination of form and function, personality, and performance that users desire and that distinguishes products in the marketplace.
Achieving this balance requires tireless commitment as the best designs serve to both respond to and anticipate constantly-evolving user needs. For this reason, when asked which product they are most proud of, the decorated design teams at ASUS have a favorite answer: the next one.

The singular overriding ASUS mission is to develop products that meet user needs. To help achieve that goal, the company's much-heralded design team is regularly called upon to break new ground. Along the way, their innovative solutions have regularly earned the team industry recognition, including more than 3,000 product awards in 2009 alone.
In recent years, ASUS designers have expanded their approach still further by engaging renowned outside designers. These unique collaborations, intending far more than a new veneer on established systems, have led to two strikingly original creations.
Acclaimed designer David Lewis was commissioned to help create the NX90 notebook from the ground up. Set on designing something special, Lewis incorporated a number of firsts into the innovative design, including a dual touchpad, speakers mounted on the notebook's lid instead of the main body, and a polished aluminum finish inspired by hand-crafted brass musical instruments.
Lewis is the owner of Copenhagen-based drawing office David Lewis Designers and has received numerous awards for his work on Bang & Olufsen products.
Prolific designer Karim Rashid completely re-envisioned the Eee PC 1008P, adding an eye-catching "digi-wave" finish over the entirety of the netbook. The result of many hours of research and concepting, the fluid, data-driven form is intended to reflect today's non-stop digital lifestyle.
Also known as the "Plastic Poet," Rashid has created more than 3,000 designs ranging from interiors to consumer electronics, from furniture to luxury goods.

The new generation of the popular ASUS N Series notebook marks another step forward in design for a company long recognized for its innovative style. A true fusion of master design and classic technology, the new ASUS N Series attracts the eye as reliably as it meets your on-the-go performance needs.
The glossy, metallic inlaid patterns of the N Series echo a modernist art-deco style that immediately distinguishes it from other notebooks. The strikingly thin U/UL Series notebook takes its inspiration from the design genius of a familiar source: the butterfly. Mimicking the curvature of the butterfly's opened wings, the U/UL Series boasts an elegant profile that immediately distinguishes it from other notebooks.
The thin, light, ultraportable design reflects the singular goal of the U/UL Series: Meet user needs. Though the notebooks are founded on the smart performance of the new Intel© Core™ i3 processor*, ASUS understands that discerning users desire a notebook that also makes a powerful personal statement. At a little over one-inch thick and a mere four pounds, the U/UL Series notebook fits easily into your backpack or briefcase—and your busy lifestyle. In developing its powerful G Series notebooks, ASUS turned for inspiration to the understated yet striking angular design of the iconic F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter. It's a model that beautifully captures the notebook's sleek profile, incredible performance, and powerful impact.
Far from being merely cosmetic, the design of the G Series was conceived to optimize user comfort, while enhancing system performance. All noise-generating components, for example, have been positioned in the rear of the notebook, reducing unwanted operational noise so users can concentrate on the task at hand.
The G Series is also distinguished by an innovative rear-venting design that facilitates improved system air flow. As a result, users enjoy a notebook marked by cooler operation than the typical system, enabling them to work or play in comfort, all powered by the new Intel© Core™ i7 processor.
The same attention to detail was figured in the design of the G Series' illuminated keyboard. Conceived to be spacious for easy and convenient gaming, the intelligent chiclet keyboard assesses its environment for dimmed light to enable use even in the dark.
Ergonomic innovation may be the most notable feature of the G Series design. By tapering the notebook's chassis, the keyboard plane could be inclined by five degrees. A unique advancement, the slight angle helps users enjoy comfortable operation for hours without strain.
